Short version: Pluck collects nothing. The app never connects to the internet, and this website sets no cookies and runs no analytics.
The Pluck app
- No internet connection. Pluck has no code that talks to a network. It works the same with Wi-Fi off.
- It only reads the videos you give it. Pluck opens a video when you drop it on First, Last, Both or Pick, or open it with Pluck. It does not scan your folders.
- Frames stay on your Mac. Each frame saves as a PNG next to the video, or in your Downloads folder if that folder is read-only. The frame is also copied to your clipboard so you can paste it.
- Two settings, stored locally. Pluck remembers whether the drop targets are on and whether you have seen the welcome message. macOS keeps these in your user preferences. Nothing else is stored.
- No account, no sign-in, no tracking, no crash reports.
To remove Pluck completely, quit it from the flower icon in the menu bar and drag Pluck from Applications to the Bin. Its two settings live in ~/Library/Preferences/com.apoorva.pluck.plist, which you can delete too.
This website
- No cookies, no analytics, no trackers. The page loads nothing from other companies: no fonts, no scripts, no embeds.
- Hosting. pluckvideo.com is served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare handles the technical details of each visit (such as your IP address and browser type) to deliver the page and protect it from abuse. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
- Links out. The Instagram link in the footer takes you to Instagram, where Instagram's own privacy policy applies.
